TERMS AND CONDITIONS WHEN BOOKING VIA Wise Move - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE BOOKING - Updated June 2021

1. All deposits are non-refundable unless the job is canceled by us. This is to compensate for the time and dates reserved specifically for your job. If NZ Home Movers (JTL) cancels the job due to unforeseen circumstances, your deposits will be fully refunded.

2. Please ensure your Wise Move inventory is as accurate as possible. We allocate trucks based on this estimate and failure to list all goods may result in additional charges or items being left behind. Last-minute capacity is often sold at a premium.

3. ALL GOODS ARE CARRIED AT THE OWNERS' RISK. WE DO NOT ACCEPT CLAIMS.

4. Goods carried into the property are taken at the owners' risk. We do not accept any liability for damages to the property at either end.


INSURANCE:

Personal effects, electronics, and household goods are deemed to be transported at the OWNERS' RISK and we do not accept claims pursuant to the Carriage of Goods Act 2015.

Should we be deemed responsible for intentionally damaging or losing items, our maximum liability will be your $200 home and contents insurance excess. You will be asked to file a claim.


We can also arrange Carrier's Liability Insurance.
* Needs to be pre-arranged with us and will incur extra costs, arranged through a third party.
* Maximum Claim for Carrier's Liability: $300 per item (beyond repair) if insurance is added.

Moving Day:
* All removals must be packed and ready to go.
* We do not assemble or disassemble furniture or move whiteware off cabinets.
* Our staff can assist in putting furniture in rooms, but this is done at the owners' risk. No liability is taken. No assembly or disassembly is included.

Television Sets:
Please note:
TVs that are not in a box are not covered by our Goods in Transit insurance if damaged. It is the customer's responsibility to box the TV (WE TAKE ALL CARE BUT).

MIRRORS:
ALL MIRRORS SHOULD BE PROFESSIONALLY PACKED. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGES. WE WILL DO OUR BEST BUT NO CLAIMS WILL BE CONSIDERED.


Packed Boxes:
Please note that the maximum weight for an item is 20kg, according to OHS regulations. Customers often pack boxes that weigh 40 or 50kg, which is not acceptable. In such cases, we will not accept any claims for damages. It is the customer's responsibility to pack boxes weighing no more than 20kg and with a maximum size of 50cm x 50cm.

Packaging:
All goods are to be packaged and ready to go on Pickup Day. If goods are not packaged, we may cover them with moving blankets for the journey, but no claims will be accepted if furniture /item is damaged or arrives dirty.

Car / Bike / Motorbike Parts:

We do not accept claims for second-hand parts or fittings.

Chest of Drawers:
All chests and drawers must be empty and not filled with clothes or belongings. This makes it harder to lift and increases the risk of breakage during long trips. No claims will be accepted if boxes are filled.


Terms and Conditions for Cancellations:

In the event of cancellations or change of mind, the following applies:

Pickup cancellations 96 hours or earlier:
40% of the full booking cost.

Pickup cancellations 24 to 96 hours prior to pickup:
50% of the total cost.

Pickup cancellations 24 hours or less:
100% of the full cost.

The customer will be billed accordingly and must pay within 2 days. Failure to do so will result in the matter being referred to a debt collection agency such as Baycorp. We will also bill Wise Move for their 15% commission and any cancellation costs.

SOUTH ISLAND BOOKINGS:

If a ferry has been booked and the customer cancels, they will be liable for the full ferry costs. The above cancellation policy also applies.

When booking:
Please note that quotes are based on the inventory list provided on the Wise Move platform. We do not charge by the hour but according to the list provided by the customer. Any additional items will incur extra charges or may be left behind.

PAYMENTS:
Payments must be made on or before the delivery day. No other terms are allowed.
CREDIT CARD payments have a surcharge ad imposed by banks 2.5 to 3.5 %


Unpaid Bills:
Unpaid bills will be referred to collection agencies for collection. All costs will be borne by the customer.

Relocated with NZ Home Movers LTD (JTL) from Blenheim to Auckland because they gave us a competitive quote and were flexible with my delivery date. Their communication was good and they were very punctual with their arrival times to each property. They assisted with the process which was a massive help to us and greatly appreciated.

The only drama was the care of our good and the lack of professionalism. A fair amount of our furniture has scratches on them from move and they double booked us so had to share a truck with someone else’s belongings. We were under the impression that we had booked the whole truck so this was a bit of a surprise when they arrived. If we had known that from the start it would have been easier to plan for a larger truck. As a result our goods didn’t all fit so we had to give away a fair amount of our goods for free.
IYKYK. Lesson learned.

I was very clear from day one and you had asked to book 16 cubic space.

Bluebridge canceled 3 sailings due to bad weather this week. Our 16 cubic was stuck in wellington and couldn't sail on time for this move. But I sent a unit from chc and had called the customer 2 days before too to ask his opinion and he chose the bigger truck I.e 19 cubic and wasn't worried it has a bed.

Do note we never charged him any extra from 16 to 19 cubics. And he himself had booked and we quoted for 16 cubics.


On move day we sent a 22 cubic truck and it had a bed for another customer from wise move booking


Thus we had allocated him 19 cubics instead of 16.

We took all of their furniture and not aware he left anything behind.

He also had booked customer loading unloading option. But we were 2 on the truck and helped him move all his furniture.

At delivery end, this is where the drama started. The apartment he was moving to had no lift and he had 5 storey building and was on the 5th floor.

My boys still helped take out all the furniture and take to level 3 for them . Turns out he didn't want to pay for extra man to turn up - which we offered him on the day and insisted us to help as he didn't have anyone from his end turn up on the day.

My boys still helped and didn't charge him any extra money. We tried to keep our professional approach and still smiled and did the job


We were told of any thing about furniture scratches till he reviewd us. Even nothing on wise messages till now

2 arm chairs roughly 1.2mh x 1m wide, 1m d small suitcase 60cm x 30cm ...
They were responsive and speedy on the whole. I don’t know if they’d picked up the goods but knew there was a plan and the drop off plan was good. But chair came with bottom of leg and castor snapped of which is going to be very hard to fix. It would’ve been difficult to break also. They didn’t apologise or say a thing about it. Just looked at me. Still would recommend the wises process.

Very pleased with my boxes having been collected promptly as arranged from Whangarei, and delivered intact today in Christchurch. Took approx 4 days in total.

Communicated well when collected, estimated time and day would be delivered. Confirmed time before the day of arrival , and on the day .

All in all our move went well. Just a few issues with packing with some items not packed or not packed well enough and my wife’s e-bike getting accidentally dropped off the back of the truck during loading - luckily it looks ok! Everything was done in a hurry so a bit stressful for us.

Unloading was very good, super helpful and efficient.

I would use NZ Home Movers again but be much more strict with packing and loading and insisting that things aren’t rushed. Thanks

Communication and timeframes were excellent. Truck had a damaged back door that could only be secured with a strap - this meant we couldn’t pack high at the rear and was a worry for the truck being parked up overnight with only straps securing its contents. Everything was delivered as discussed, within agreed timeframes and quote.

Our request was to fit as much on the truck as reasonable as we had alternative options for anything that didn’t fit. Based on previous moves we had expected the team to decide what order things should be loaded for best use of space, but this was left to us instead.

As discussed during the quoting system we had allocated a 22 cubic truck for you compared to a 25 cubic that you had listed as this was 1k cheaper and you had agreed to it.
Here is an extract from your message" Hi Jerald. Smaller but dedicated truck sounds good to us. We're fit and able to help with the move, and happy to downsize further if that helps us fit into a smaller truck. "

Our price was Cleary quoted for a 22 cubic truck for your use and that's what we sent. You had 35 cubic plus where you had stated you couldn't gift everything as planned to family and also a trailer on the day handy as you definitely knew that 22 cubics wont be enough. We still took all if not majority of your gear and your husband stated that he wanted to take boxes only which we complied with happily.
